Selected Poems – Eileen Casey, Irish Poet from Tallaght, South County Dublin.
Originally from the Midlands, Eileen Casey lives in Tallaght, South County Dublin. A Creative Writing Tutor, she received an M.Phil in Creative Writing from Trinity College, Dublin.Her prose and poetry are widely published in outlets such as Faber & Faber’s All Over Ireland Short Story Anthology (edited by Deirdre Madden), Dedalus Press (If Ever You Go), ‘I Live in Michael Hartnett’, The Ulster Tatler, The Sunday Tribune, The Irish Independent, Galway Now, The Irish Times, Icarus, The Stony Thursday Book, Crannóg, Verbal Arts Magazine, The Moth, Ireland of the Welcomes, Poetry Ireland Review, The Jelly Bucket (USA), The Chaffin Journal (USA), Amistad Anthology (Italy),The Coffee House (UK) among others.
She has a number of prose (Arlen House) and poetry collections. Reading Hieroglyphs in Unexpected Places and From Bone to Blossom are collaborations with Visual Artist Emma Barone.
‘Black Ball Gown’ (Moving Dublin, Gandon Editions, Cork) was made into a short film by Paris based artists Anne Cleary and Denis Connolly. It’s available on youtube. She has shown a number of Poetry in Public Places exhibitions. Reading Fire, Writing Flame featured in Poetry Ireland Review (Issue No. 92) and The Irish Arts Review. Other Poetry Installations include The Jane Austen Sewing Kit, Seagulls and Poetry on the Wall.In January 2010, she was the visiting poet at The Eastern Kentucky University’s Winter Programme in Lexington, Kentucky, supported by Culture Ireland. She received Arts Council bursaries in 2010, 2011. In 2011 she was a recipient of the Patrick and Katherine Kavanagh Fellowship.
Fiction and prose are widely published. Awards include: The Irish Independent /Hennessy Literary Award in Emerging Fiction for a short story ‘Macaw’ (2010), The South Tipperary Festival Prize, Listowel Writers’ Week Short Fiction Award, The Maria Edgeworth Fiction Award, The Cecil Day Lewis Fiction Award and the Golden Pen Prize, among others.
As an editor and publisher, her imprint Fiery Arrow has published Circle & Square, Flavours of Home, South of the County: New Myths and Tales, among others.
Currently interested in working with tealeaf images, hoping to present an exhibition of these images together with ‘teahaiku’
