Hope Is, poem by Claudine Nash.

Hope Is

the song
I feel in my muscles

(before I can sing
any of the lyrics),

it is a moment

stirring in darkness
before the day begins

a direction

found in a forest
of limitless routes,

the breath

(I didn’t know
I was holding)

winding around
the stillness
of the morning,

it is the thought

that is spinning itself
into an idea

as the coffee
is brewing,

the answer

that is catching
the light.
