Many people think about stress as being specific to negative happenings in their lives, but stress actually occurs from both negative and positive situations. In fact, your energy system picks up a great amount of stress without you even being aware. What’s wonderful, however, is that your body is amazing at moving back into balance.
You may remember a time when something happened suddenly and unexpectedly, and you immediately went into a heightened state of awareness. Your body is set up with a protective mechanism toward “fight” or “flight.” This reaction creates an outpouring of adrenaline and other hormones into your blood stream, which produces a number of protective changes in your body. This flood provides you with the energy and strength to either fight or flee from the situation. Here, your heart rate increases, allowing more blood flow to your muscles, brain, and heart. Your breathing also increases to a faster pace in order to take in more oxygen, and your muscles tense in preparation for action. You become mentally alert, and your senses become more aware so that you can assess the situation and act quickly. In addition to this, your blood sugar, fats, and cholesterol increase for extra energy. There is a rise in your platelets and blood clotting ability, which prevents hemorrhaging in case of injury.

How important are your beliefs anyway? In Week Five of 12 Weeks to Self-Healing: Transforming Pain through Energy Medicine, assessing your beliefs is explored. So first of all, what are beliefs? You may find they are attitudes, viewpoints, ideas, thoughts, values, perceptions, and more.
A recent video I listened to by Greg Reid in my iLA program talked about how we are most influenced by the people we are around and the books we read. You may notice how you developed your beliefs based on the people and books that influenced you. He said that you are the average of the five people you are around the most. This means in your lifestyle, your income, your values, etc. Therefore, your choices of what you do and with whom you do it, really does affect the quality of your life.

This month’s focus for self-healing is Hypnotherapy! You can use hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis as tools in many areas of your life. Whether you use it to manage pain, quit smoking, lose weight, ace a job interview or a school test: it is great to assist you in gaining control over your life. Many people also use hypnotherapy or guided imagery to develop their spiritual life.

After evaluating your situation and discovering more about yourself from my article, Transformation in the New Year, in the January issue of Live Encounters and my book 12 Weeks to Self-Healing, Transforming Pain through Energy Medicine; the next step is to harness the energy from within to motivate you forward. This is where passion enters. How fitting this article happens the month of February when we celebrate Valentine’s Day by focusing on passion. Whether it is dining with a loved one, giving or receiving chocolates and flowers, or giving yourself a mini-vacation or a spa day; it is a time for love!
There seems to be a theme in my counseling and coaching practice. As I listen carefully to the stories of my clients, underneath I continually hear that at some point in their life they gave up their passion. I see more and more that the “should” and “busyness” in their lives overcame their dreams. This is when emotional and physical pain began to present itself. So, what happened?

Speaking of a healing force in my life, I just published my book 12 Weeks to Self-Healing: Transforming Pain through Energy Medicine. Monthly, in Live Encounters Magazine, I will focus upon the chapters in the book and assist you in self-healing emotional and physical pain. The first chapter focuses on Evaluating Your Situation. Whether it is emotional or physical pain, there is always an emotional component. I find that when people tend to focus on the past, they suffer from depression and when they focus on the future, it creates anxiety.

The last few weeks I found myself in a crisis situation where I helped someone who needed immediate support. Haven written earlier about Boundaries you know that I am generally clear on responding in a healthy way where boundaries are concerned. In this case, I jumped in with both feet; defended, protected and supported the person who for a time could not defend herself.
After awhile though, I realized that she was not generating herself. She became dependent upon me and I could see how she created the situation in which she became entangled.

In my niche, there are only a few people I know that have not seen the film The Secret. If you have not seen it, I am sure you have seen shows or videos online about manifesting. “It isn’t working!” exclaim many of my clients! Even when they know what they want to create, when they have clarified every detail, and even created a vision board, they wait and nothing happens. In deeper exploration of this, I realized the problem.

Last month we looked at time and being protective of your own and others precious time. Now let’s look at Space.
Space can be intimately related to time in that you can give yourself time to expand. In our hurried lives, we often become so contracted, over-stimulated by work, the busy-ness of the environment, technology and such.

In this series of articles I have been teaching you how to manage your energy system, increase your intuition, and create the life you desire. Another great tool is the use of trance. Many people go to hypnotherapists to learn to develop a strength such as playing sports, stop a behavior such as smoking, or be able to pass a test. It is important to know you have the ability to use this trance tool, a form of self-hypnosis for yourself whenever you want.
