Night Walks, poems by Luis Cuauhtémoc Berriozábal.

Night Walks

Night walks along the sky,
drops its mist over each house,
inside all the rooms without light.
The imperturbable neighborhood
without traffic of earlier hours,
feels where the darkness has been.
I think there is nothing better than this.

Bad Dreams

Fear swallows its own tears
as you face it and stand your
ground. In your sleep you
have such awful dreams where
you must remain strong.
One bad dream could take you
back to places you do not want
to return to. I have such dreams
over and over. In my inconscient
state, in my bed, I toss and turn.
I kick fear in the teeth. I come
outside of the dream victorious.
The nightmare vanishes as I
greet the new morning. I will
not let fear extort me in dreams.
I will not let it in. I will not let it
sequester me. It will not take me
back to days I left behind. Fear
will not disturb my dreams.

Everything Happens For a Reason

But if everything happens for a reason,
I prefer to be unreasonable. I do not
want to be subdued by reasonable
sorts. I prefer to be myself in all my strange
weirdness. My days are long enough.
Stop shoving things down my throat.
It muffles my song that makes no sense.
