Hometown Glory, poem Frances Browner.

Hometown Glory

It’s not the yachts gracing the harbour
Nor the stony grey beach and boardwalk
It’s the salt clinging to seaweed air
That transports me right back to Montauk.
It’s not the vinegar, fish ‘n chips
Nor the lonesome stray boat on the strand
It’s the taste of your kiss on my lips
And the silence of distant mountains.
I recall strolling on golden sand
The Long Island sun hot on my skin
You reminiscing about Dann’s
The Beach House and Burnaby Inn.
It’s your town now; your text lights up my phone
Greystones, the longest home I’ve ever known.
